The goal of the Municipal Court Security staff is to maintain the safety and security of everyone in and around the court building. Security Officers ensure the orderly conduct of all persons at the court and in the courtrooms.

Municipal Court Security Officers can answer many questions when you enter the courthouse. They may also ask you questions so they can determine how best to serve you. They will direct you to the appropriate office, courtroom, or staff member for your needs.

To be admitted to the courthouse, visitors must be appropriately dressed (see the Court’s dress code here) and pass through security screening. The following items are prohibited from being brought into the Chillicothe Municipal Court and may be confiscated by Security staff:

• firearms and stun guns
  
• switchblades, any cutting blade, box cutters, razor blades
  
• knives
  
• brass knuckles
  
• ammunition
  
• explosives and fireworks
  
• chemical agents
  
• expandable batons or clubs
  
• hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, hacksaws and other similar tools
  
• scissors
  
• nail files
  
• large safety pins
  
• knitting needles
  
• letter openers
  
• handcuffs and handcuff keys
  
• illegal drugs, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia
  
• syringes
