Judge Thomas E. Bunch was elected for a full six (6) year term
commencing January 1, 1994. During his term, Judge Bunch has established
a Victim/Witness Program. Each court now has a part-time
victim advocate to assist victims of crime in court at all critical
stages and referring them to other community resources. Judge Bunch
has increased utilization of community service for first time non-violent
offenders over 50%. Judge Bunch has overseen the Student Bailiff
Program, has participated in the Prom Promise Program at various
high schools and has invited various classes from high school and
younger to view actual court proceedings and has conducted mock
trials upon request. Judge Bunch has also been a presiding judge
at State Mock Trial Competitions sponsored by the Ohio Center for
Law Related Education

Prior to his election, Judge Bunch was a partner in the law firm
of Moore, Corzine & Bunch from 1980 through 1993 and was the principal
in Thomas E. Bunch Law Offices from 1993 through assuming the bench.
Judge Bunch is a distinguished military graduate of the University
of Dayton, and has a Master's Degree in Business Administration
from the University of Florida. Judge Bunch received his Juris Doctorate
from the University of Toledo School of Law where he was an editor
on the Law Review Staff, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Judge Bunch was the chief Assistant Law Director for the City of
Chillicothe from 1987 through 1993 and was chairman of the Chillicothe
Civil Service Commission from 1983 to 1986. Judge Bunch has served
as Parents Club president, School Board president and coached numerous
youth soccer and basketball teams. Currently Judge Bunch is an active
member of the Ross County Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association,
American Judges Association, the Ohio Municipal Judges Association
and serves as a member of the legislative committe of the Ohio Judicial
Conference. Judge Bunch is a member of St. Peters Catholic Church
where he serves as a lector and greeter. Judge Bunch served in the
US Army both stateside and overseas from 1972-1977 attaining the
rank of Captain.
Judge Bunch is married to Kathie Meyer Bunch, a former business
proprietor, and currently the Director of the Southern Ohio Women's
Cancer Project.
Judge Bunch has three children: 2LT Jonathon Bunch, a 1997 graduate
of the United States Military Academy at West Point stationed at
Fort Riley, Kansas; Ryan, a senior at Ohio University at Athens
studying pre-medicine; and Brooke, a freshman at Miami University,
Oxford, Ohio.
